"C'mon, baby, just a little sip. Let's have us a little party, just you and me, huh?"
"Back off, fella. Can't you see I'm spinning here?"

This is one Mrs. Edwards in a photograph taken in 1875.
As we have seen before in these pages, she couldn't quite keep her hands still for the photographer. Knitting really is involuntary sometimes.

I'm particularly fond of the lacey Princess Leia look.
These spindle whorls, together with many hundreds more, were collected in the Teotihuacán Valley in Mexico in the early 1900s and date to the period of 200 to 800 a.d.

Some are stone, some are ceramic, and the largest one is about 2 1/2 inches (65 cm mm) in diameter.
These spindles would have been used as support spindles to spin cotton as shown here.
It's my first Blogiversary!
I wasn't sure I wanted to get into this whole weird blogging thing, and I knew I didn't want to do a personal blog. I was "Marcy, Blogless" for years. But when I thought of sharing my collections of images of fiberish and sheepy things I thought I'd give it a try.
My original conception was to just put up images and let them speak for themselves. But I was soon prevailed upon by wiser heads to also do some writing. I'm very glad they spoke up. I've done a lot of research and learning in the process of writing up a lot of these blog entries in the last year. And from the feedback I've gotten from you, dear readers, it would appear that you've been enjoying it here, too.
So, wow, it's been a fun year, and thanks for coming around. I hope to keep this up for a long time to come. I figure I have about 20 years worth at this rate. :D

Soutine was an impressionist painter of poor Russian birth who emigrated to France at the age of 20 to paint.

This lady has been one of my favorites for a long time, ever since I saw her on exhibit about fifteen years ago.
You can see more of Soutine's work here.
